Hundreds of demonstrators opposed to Arizona’s hard-line stance on illegal immigration took to the streets here on Thursday, denouncing the state’s controversial immigration law as racist and engaging in acts of civil disobedience.

The protesters, some of whom gathered well before dawn, marched to various venues, including the federal courthouse where a judge Wednesday had issued a last-minute injunction against most of the immigration law, known as SB 1070.
